In I Declare Before My God: The Brian and James Seery Story, Jack Kiernan describes circumstances which led to the murder by execution of two innocent men (a father and a son), victims of miscarriage of justice. Their deaths occurred on different days, 24 years apart on separate continents. Brian Seery died in Ireland, outside Mullingar Gaol on 13 February 1846. He left behind a young family including a son, James, who would later be charged, found guilty of murder and sentenced to hang in Australia, on 14 November 1870, aged just 33 years.
